McLaren Vale is 45 minutes south of Adelaide and is a picturesque region, situated on rolling hills between the Mount Lofty Ranges and the sea. It enjoys a Mediterranean climate, characterised by warm summers and moderate winters. It is best known both nationally and internationally for its Shiraz but is also highly regarded for its Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Its warmer climate also makes it ideal for producing Mediterranean red and white varieties including Fiano, Sangiovese, Vermentino and Tempranillo. The region is well known for innovative viticultural and winemaking techniques and is host to over 80 cellar doors.
