Matured in French Oak for 12 months, this wine displays aromas of red berries and cherries with hints of spice.
The palate is soft and silky with flavours of red cherry, plum and fine supple tannins.
Certified organic and vegan friendly so very limited use of preservative Sulphur and no milk, egg or fish products used in the fining.
Captains Creek rises on our mixed organic farm at Blampied, near Daylesford, at the foot of Kangaroo Hills. Four generations of the May family have run the 80 hectare farm for more than 100 years since 1909. The vineyard was established in 1994 by Doug and Carolyn May.
Certified organic with NASAA, the vineyard produces grapes that are grown and processed without the use of synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilisers.
From the lush Pinot Noirs to bright Chardonnays to thirst quenching Ciders, you’ll find the best selection of handcrafted organic wines come from the headwaters of Captains Creek. Our selection for tasting includes Sparkling white and red, Unoaked and Oaked Chardonnay, Rose, Pinot Noir, Verjuice, a method champenoise sparkling apple cider and two farmhouse style apple ciders.
Our good friend and winemaker is David Cowburn of Kilichurn Wines based in the cool climate Macedon Ranges wine region at Romsey. Kilchurn Wines is Australia's premier sparkling wine contract facility, specialising in crafting traditional method sparkling wines.
Kilchurn Wines has current certification (No. 3736P) from NASAA to process ORGANIC grapes, wine and cider.
Our inviting cellar door offers delicious lunches served between 12-3pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The seasonal menu showcases our Captains Creek farm fresh produce direct from the paddock to your plate. In these red volcanic soils our family grow a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, nuts, free range chickens and graze Dorpa sheep and Black Angus cattle. We pride ourselves on sourcing the finest ingredients from other local producers in this rich food growing region.
Grab a table on the verandah overlooking the vines and countryside during our warmer months or beside the roaring open fire in winter. Try our popular Tasting Plate which is laden with a selection of local delicacies which includes Istra prosciutto, salami and hot chorizo, Captains Creek olives, marinated vegetables and house made dips served with Stella's sourdough bread or perhaps the Antipasto Tart with a roast tomato and basil pesto base including almonds, accompanied with a corn, tomato and Tuki smoked trout salsa.

Guests are also able to enjoy our range of wines and ciders by the glass and regional beers in the wine bar plus housemade cakes and espresso coffee served throughout the day
Purchase Goldfields Farmhouse Cheeses, Istra smallgoods and other local produce including fresh vegie boxes direct from the farm in season.
